Answers a Carbon Monoxide Lawyer Should Know

Here are five questions a carbon monoxide lawyer should be comfortable answering to a survivor of a carbon monoxide event before promising to get the best recovery for a new client.

How do you know if a lawyer is a carbon monoxide lawyer?

Ask the lawyer these five simple questions:

  1. What does COHb stand for?
  2. What does the term DNS stand for?
  3. At what level of COHb is there a significant risk of delayed brain damage?
  4. What is the most money you have recovered for anyone person with carbon monoxide poisoning?
  5. How many people have you and/or your firm represented with carbon monoxide poisoning that recovered more than $1 million?

A carbon monoxide lawyer should be conversant with all of the topics outlined in this post. If not, they probably have far less experience than they want you to believe.

CARBON MONOXIDE ANSWERS

  1. COHb. COHb means carboxyhemoglobin, which is the medical term for the concentration of carbon monoxide in the blood of someone who survived a carbon monoxide poisoning event.
  2. DNS. DNS stands for Delayed Neurological Sequelae, the term that is used to describe the persistence of CO symptoms after the survivor is discharged from the hospital.
  3. Risk Factor for Bad Outcome. Peer reviewed studies have established that a 10% COHb level equates to a 40% chance of a bad outcome (DNS) after carbon monoxide poisoning.
  4. Largest CO Recovery. Lawyers like to make claims about how much they have recovered. If you can’t find the CO recoveries on their web page, while you do find other settlements, then they likely don’t have seven figure CO results.
  5. Number of Clients with Seven Figure Carbon Monoxide Recoveries. The Carbon Monoxide Group has now represented more than 30 individuals who have recovered more than $1 million.
